Hot Dog Ice Cream Cake

Complexity: average
Servings: 6
Hot dog lovers will be thrilled with this cake for their special occasion. It looks exactly like the popular sausage roll, and every detail is thought out to the last detail. The cake base is a rectangular pound cake, cut to the shape of a hot dog bun. Buy a pre-made one, and the cake will take minimal time to make. The cake is topped with chocolate ice cream in the shape of a giant sausage, drizzled with a creamy chocolate sauce with strawberry chunks (this makes chili sauce), and topped with orange icing—grated cheese (or mustard, depending on how you pipe the icing). And don't forget to top the hot dog with chopped "onions" made from white chocolate chips. Note: The time given for cake assembly assumes all ingredients are pre-made.

Cooking the dish according to the recipe:
- In a bowl, combine chocolate ice cream with enough red food coloring to create the color of the sausage. Place the ice cream on a sheet of parchment paper; fold the parchment over the ice cream, then, using a ruler, shape it into a 12-inch log.
- Wrap the log in parchment paper and twist the ends of the parchment. Freeze until the ice cream is firm, at least 2 hours.
- Cut a thin slice from all 4 sides of the pound cake. Make two long, 1-inch-deep slits in the top of the cake, leaving 1-inch (2.5 cm) from the edges; scoop out the center of the cake to create a "sausage" indentation.
- Make chili: Combine strawberries and chocolate sauce in a bowl.
- Make "cheese": touch up vanilla glaze Color it orange by mixing red and yellow food coloring; place it in a zip-lock plastic bag and snip off a small corner.
- Unwrap the ice cream "sausage" and place it in the center of the cupcake.
- Drizzle the strawberry-chocolate mixture over the ice cream.
- Pipe orange icing on top. Sprinkle with white chocolate. Freeze until serving.
