Steak and Fries Ice Cream Cake

How to Make Steak and Fries Ice Cream Cake
Time: 1 hour 10 min.
Complexity: easily
Servings: 4

We don't usually recommend meat and potatoes for dessert, but in this case, it's the perfect treat for dad on Father's Day or February 23rd. The deconstructed ice cream cake is served as deliciously grilled steaks with vanilla cake fries or strawberry jam ketchup.

Preparation:

    Step 1
  • Steak and Fries Ice Cream Cake
    Steaks:

Using a serrated knife, cut the ice cream container crosswise into quarters, dipping the knife in hot water if necessary. Cut the cardboard box with kitchen scissors.
  • Step 2
  • Steak and Fries Ice Cream Cake
Wrap each ice cream circle tightly in plastic wrap and shape it into a steak shape with your hands (the warmth of your hands will soften the ice cream). Freeze for about 30 minutes.
  • Step 3
  • Steak and Fries Ice Cream Cake
Unwrap one frozen steak and place it on a sheet of parchment or waxed paper. Dip a metal skewer in hot water, then press it into the ice cream to create parallel diagonal lines, like those from a grill grate.
  • Step 4
  • Steak and Fries Ice Cream Cake
Draw lines in the opposite direction to create a grid pattern, dipping the skewer in hot water as needed. If the ice cream becomes too soft, return it to the freezer for a few minutes.

  • Step 5
  • Steak and Fries Ice Cream Cake
Fill the "steak" with crushed chocolate chip cookies. Transfer the steak to a baking sheet and freeze for about 30 minutes. Repeat with the remaining frozen steaks.
  • Step 6
  • Steak and Fries Ice Cream Cake
    Make French fries:

Trim the sides of the cupcakes, then cut each cupcake crosswise into 1/4-inch-thick slices.
  • Step 7
  • Steak and Fries Ice Cream Cake
Cut each cake slice into strips. Place on 2 parchment-lined baking sheets.
  • Step 8
  • Steak and Fries Ice Cream Cake
Drizzle the "fries" with melted butter and toss. Bake in the oven at 350°F (175°C) until lightly browned, about 8 minutes, tossing once and rotating halfway through; let cool slightly.

  • Step 9
  • Steak and Fries Ice Cream Cake
Divide the steaks, fries, and strawberry jam among plates. There will be two steaks on each plate.
