Steak Cake

How to Make Steak Cake
Time: 1 hour 50 min.
Complexity: easily
Servings: 8

This grilled steak-shaped chocolate cake is a worthy addition to any man's celebration, whether it's Father's Day, Valentine's Day, or a birthday. The red velvet cake is topped with chocolate icing and crushed chocolate graham crackers. Use black confectioners' gel to create grill marks, and coarse decorative sugars are placed on top of the "steak" to resemble grains of salt.

Ingredients:

  • Cake mix (400 gr.)
Substituting ingredients
1 glass (st.) - 250 ml.
3/4 cup (st.) - 180 ml.
2/3 cup (st.) - 160 ml.
1/2 cup (st.) - 125 ml.
1/3 cup (st.) - 80 ml.
1/4 cup (st.) - 60 ml.
1 tablespoon (tbsp) - 15 ml.
1 teaspoon (tsp) - 5 ml.
1/5 teaspoon (tsp) - 1 ml.

We recommend

Preparation:

    Step 1
  • Bake the crust using store-bought red velvet cake mix in a 9x13-inch pan and let cool. Unmold, then use a long serrated knife to trim off the domed top and slice the cake crosswise into three rectangles (to create three "steaks").
  • Step 2
  • Frost the top and sides with chocolate icing, then sprinkle with crushed chocolate graham crackers. Invert each cake onto a cutting board, frost the bottom, and sprinkle with crumbs. Use black decorative icing to create grill marks on the cake. Freeze the cake for at least 1 hour, then slice thinly. Sprinkle with coarse sugar.
