To prank your friends, bake this fun cake in the form of a store-bought dinner of Salisbury steak in gravy, mashed potatoes with butter, and a vegetable side dish of green peas and carrots. All of these ingredients are made entirely from sweets, but the cake looks incredibly realistic.

The recipes use measuring containers with the following volumes:
1 glass (st.) - 250 ml.
3/4 cup (st.) - 180 ml.
2/3 cup (st.) - 160 ml.
1/2 cup (st.) - 125 ml.
1/3 cup (st.) - 80 ml.
1/4 cup (st.) - 60 ml.
1 tablespoon (tbsp) - 15 ml.
1 teaspoon (tsp) - 5 ml.
1/5 teaspoon (tsp) - 1 ml.

Ingredients for the recipe:

  • Cooking spray to spray the pan
  • 1 package (430 g) Devil's Food cake mix (+ required ingredients)
  • 1 cup white vanilla frosting
  • 4 lemon gummies
  • 1 cup of chocolate dragees in light green glaze
  • 1/4 cup orange gummies
  • 1 cup caramel sauce
  • 6 puffed rice cereal bars
  • 0.5 cup cocoa powder
  • Special equipment: disposable aluminum baking pan measuring 22x32 cm.

Cooking the dish according to the recipe:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Spray a disposable aluminum baking dish with cooking spray.
  2. Mix the Devil's Food cake batter according to package directions. Pour the batter into the prepared pan. Bake until the center springs back when pressed, 20-25 minutes. Let cool completely.

  3. With the short side facing you, cut a vertical line through the center to divide the cake in half. Fold a 12-inch piece of foil several times to create a piece approximately 3 x 12 inches (7.5 x 32 cm) long that will fit through the slit in the cake. This will serve as a divider for the toppings.
  4. Turn the cake over so the long side is facing you. For the mashed potatoes, spread vanilla frosting on the right side of the top half of the cake. Flatten the lemon gummies and place them in the center. This will be the buttercream.
  5. For the carrot and pea cake, line the left side of the top half of the cake with green-glazed chocolates and orange gummies.
  6. For the Salisbury steak, pour about 3/4 cup of caramel sauce over the entire bottom half of the cake. Stack and press 3 bars into a single block, then press the edges and corners with your fingers to round them. Repeat with the remaining bars. Place cocoa powder in a shallow dish and press the bars into it to completely coat.
  7. Drain off any excess cocoa powder and arrange these Salisbury-style steaks on top of the caramel. Drizzle each "steak" with a little caramel sauce, like a gravy.
