A classic chocolate cake is the highlight of any celebration. This recipe produces a perfect cake: soft, moist, and with a wonderful chocolate flavor, enhanced even more by the addition of boiling water to the batter. The specified amount of ingredients makes two 22 cm diameter cakes. Assemble the cake, frosting the cakes with your favorite frosting once they've cooled completely.


Ingredients:

  • 1 and 3/4 cups premium flour
  • 2 tbsp. sugar
  • 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1.5 tsp of baking soda
  • 1.5 tsp baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon of salt
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup of milk
  • 0.5 cups vegetable oil
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup of boiling water
Substituting ingredients
1 glass (st.) - 250 ml.
3/4 cup (st.) - 180 ml.
2/3 cup (st.) - 160 ml.
1/2 cup (st.) - 125 ml.
1/3 cup (st.) - 80 ml.
1/4 cup (st.) - 60 ml.
1 tablespoon (tbsp) - 15 ml.
1 teaspoon (tsp) - 5 ml.
1/5 teaspoon (tsp) - 1 ml.

Preparation:

    Step 1
  • Preheat oven to 175°C. Grease two 22cm cake pans with butter. Dust with flour and shake out any excess.
  • Step 2
  • In a large bowl, combine the flour, sugar, cocoa, baking soda, baking powder, and salt. Stir with a wooden spoon and set aside. In a small bowl, combine the eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla extract. Beat thoroughly with a hand mixer. Gradually add boiling water and mix. Add the liquid mixture to the flour mixture and knead until smooth.

  • Pour the batter evenly into the pans. Bake for 30-35 minutes. Remove the cakes from the pans and cool on wire racks.
