This elegant dessert is reminiscent of Black Forest cake: rich chocolate sponge cake is topped with a glossy cherry filling and sprinkled with toasted almonds. But it's much simpler to make, using the pour-and-dump method. And with store-bought chocolate sponge cake mix and canned cherry filling, you can forget about the hassle altogether. Simply spoon everything into a baking dish and pop it in the oven. Serve warm with whipped cream.

3/4 cup (st.) - 180 ml.
2/3 cup (st.) - 160 ml.
1/2 cup (st.) - 125 ml.

1 teaspoon (tsp) - 5 ml.

- 1 package (430 g) of dry chocolate cake mix
- 1/4 cup toasted flaked almonds
- Whipped cream, for serving

Cooking the dish according to the recipe:
- Place the butter in a 22x32cm baking dish and place the dish in the oven while it preheats. Preheat the oven to 175°C.
- Once the butter has melted, remove the pan from the oven and add the cake mixture. Stir until smooth. Pour the cherry pie filling over the top and spread it evenly. Bake until the cake is set, about 1 hour. Let cool for 20 minutes. Sprinkle with toasted almonds. Serve with whipped cream.
