Mash fresh pitted cherries with lime and sugar, then add gin.

Cooking the dish according to the recipe:
- Place the cherries, lime, and sugar in a shaker. Mash the fruit and sugar with a pestle or wooden spoon until the juice is released.
- Add gin and crushed ice. Close the shaker and shake vigorously until combined and the cocktail is chilled, about 30 seconds (by the time the shaker is fogged, the drink is ready). Serve.
