Caipirinha, a Brazilian cocktail made with cachaça, lime, and sugar, is infused with the rich, fruity flavor of fresh plums in this recipe. Serve a generous serving in a pitcher, add plenty of ice, and enjoy this summer drink.



The recipes use measuring containers with the following volumes:
1 glass (st.) - 250 ml.
3/4 cup (st.) - 180 ml.
2/3 cup (st.) - 160 ml.
1/2 cup (st.) - 125 ml.
1/3 cup (st.) - 80 ml.
1/4 cup (st.) - 60 ml.
1 tablespoon (tbsp) - 15 ml.
1 teaspoon (tsp) - 5 ml.
1/5 teaspoon (tsp) - 1 ml.

Ingredients for the recipe:


  • 2 ripe, firm red plums
  • 0.5 cups of sugar
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 3 limes, diced (remove seeds)
  • 1 cup cachaça

Cooking the dish according to the recipe:


  1. Halve the plums and remove the pits. Combine the sugar and water in a small saucepan. Add the plums and simmer over medium heat until soft but not mushy, about 10 minutes. Let the plums cool in the liquid.
  2. Thinly slice half a plum for garnish and set aside.

  3. Place the diced limes and remaining plums in a large pitcher. Mash thoroughly with a muddler or potato masher. Add the cachaça and plum water and top with ice cubes. Pour the cocktail into chilled whiskey glasses, making sure to get some fruit and ice in each glass. Garnish each glass with a plum slice.
