This recipe makes the Brazilian Caipirinha, a cocktail made with cachaça, lime, and sugar, even more tropical: simply replace the lime juice with fresh pineapple! Add plenty of mint and enjoy this refreshing taste on a warm summer evening.



The recipes use measuring containers with the following volumes:
1 glass (st.) - 250 ml.
3/4 cup (st.) - 180 ml.
2/3 cup (st.) - 160 ml.
1/2 cup (st.) - 125 ml.
1/3 cup (st.) - 80 ml.
1/4 cup (st.) - 60 ml.
1 tablespoon (tbsp) - 15 ml.
1 teaspoon (tsp) - 5 ml.
1/5 teaspoon (tsp) - 1 ml.

Ingredients for the recipe:


  • 2/3 cup sugar
  • 12 mint leaves, torn, + sprigs for garnish
  • 1 fresh pineapple, peeled and cut into small pieces, core removed (about 4 cups)
  • 1 and 1/4 cups cachaça

Cooking the dish according to the recipe:


  1. Combine sugar, mint leaves, and 3 cups of pineapple chunks in a pitcher. Stir with a wooden spoon until the sugar dissolves and the pineapple is crushed. Add the remaining pineapple and cachaça and refrigerate until completely cool, at least 30 minutes or up to 4 hours.
  2. Add 6 cups of ice to the pitcher and stir vigorously. Pour the cocktail into glasses and garnish with mint sprigs.
