Shortcake Royale is a larger, more sophisticated version of the American Strawberry Shortcake, sandwiching whipped cream and fresh strawberries between the two halves of the sponge. To make a larger shortcake, take a ready-made pound cake and cut it into 4 layers, layering the layers with whipped cream and fresh berries in orange syrup. Strawberries, raspberries, blackberries, or blueberries are all available. Choose any juicy berries. The result is a delicious, beautiful, and, most importantly, quick cake that serves 4.

Microwave 1/4 cup orange liqueur with 3 tablespoons sugar until the sugar dissolves, about 4 minutes. Cut 1 pound cake Divide the mixture horizontally into 4 thin rectangles. Combine 2 cups of mixed berries with orange syrup and 2 tablespoons of sugar. Whip 1 cup of heavy cream with 2 tablespoons of sugar until soft peaks form. Assemble the 4-layer cake, sandwiching the cake with whipped cream and berries. Dust with powdered sugar.
