Banana cake with pudding and candy filling

Complexity: easily
Servings: 10 - 12
This airy banana cake is very similar in flavor to tiramisu, soft and moist thanks to the bananas and caramel sauce. It's made by riddling a sponge cake with caramel drops and pressing caramel-filled chocolate candies into it. The surprise inside should melt and fill the holes, which is where this cake gets its name – Poke Cake. The idea is to poke the cake and fill the resulting holes with the surprise. To make this cake, you'll need a package of vanilla cake mix, a package of instant pudding, caramel sauce, bananas, heavy whipping cream, and soft caramel-filled chocolate candies. Push the candies into the freshly baked, hot cake to melt the inside, and your favorite candies will find a home in this cake.

Cooking the dish according to the recipe:
- Mix the dry cake mix and bake the crust in a 22 x 32 cm (9 x 13 in) baking pan according to package directions. Let cool for 10 minutes.
- Place the cake layer with the long side facing you. Evenly distribute the chocolate candies across the cake layer in 5 rows (there should be 6 candies in each row). Using the handle of a wooden spoon, press all the candies into the center of the cake layer. Cool completely.
- Meanwhile, prepare the pudding according to package directions.
- In a medium bowl, beat the cream, sugar, and vanilla with a mixer on medium-high speed until soft peaks form, 3 to 4 minutes.
- Spread the caramel sauce over the cooled cake, making sure it reaches all the crevices. Top with pudding, then layer with sliced bananas. Top with whipped cream. Use an offset spatula to create swirls in the cream. Drizzle with more caramel sauce. Cut into slices and serve.
