Trifle is a traditional English layered dessert whose history dates back to the 16th century. It's typically prepared in a clear glass dish to reveal the alternating layers of liqueur- or sherry-soaked sponge cake, cream, and berries. We suggest a slight twist on the classic recipe and omitting the alcohol, making this dessert enjoyable for children too. trifle Literally translated as "a trifle," this name perhaps best describes the difficulty of preparing this dish now that the ingredients require virtually no preparation—a mere trifle!
The recipes use measuring containers with the following volumes:
1 glass (st.) - 250 ml.
3/4 cup (st.) - 180 ml.
2/3 cup (st.) - 160 ml.
1/2 cup (st.) - 125 ml.
1/3 cup (st.) - 80 ml.
1/4 cup (st.) - 60 ml.
1 tablespoon (tbsp) - 15 ml.
1 teaspoon (tsp) - 5 ml.
1/5 teaspoon (tsp) - 1 ml.

Ingredients for the recipe:
- 500 gr. Angel Food biscuit
- 5 cups fresh strawberries, stemmed and sliced, plus a few whole berries for garnish
- 170 g of blueberries
- 170 g of raspberries
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- Juice of half an orange
- 4 cups low-fat 2% Greek yogurt
- 1/4 cup honey

Cooking the dish according to the recipe:
- Add the berries to a bowl with sugar and orange juice. Let sit at room temperature for 15-20 minutes to release the juices.
- Meanwhile, place the yogurt and honey in another bowl. Stir with a spoon and smooth out the mixture to make it more pliable.
- Using a serrated knife, cut the sponge cake into large pieces and place about 1/3 of them in the bottom of a medium trifle bowl. Layer the berries in syrup, then add a layer of yogurt, setting aside a few heaping spoonfuls of yogurt for the final layer. Continue alternating layers until all the ingredients are used up. Finally, place a few spoonfuls of yogurt and fresh whole strawberries in the center.
- Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate until set, at least 1 hour, or overnight.
