Macarons are American coconut pastries that are incredibly delicious, easy to make, and can be made in large quantities. This basic recipe requires just four ingredients, not counting a pinch of salt. Coconut flakes are mixed with egg whites, sugar, and vanilla, then formed into pyramids (wet your hands with water) and baked until golden brown. A perfect treat for the holidays!



The recipes use measuring containers with the following volumes:
1 glass (st.) - 250 ml.
3/4 cup (st.) - 180 ml.
2/3 cup (st.) - 160 ml.
1/2 cup (st.) - 125 ml.
1/3 cup (st.) - 80 ml.
1/4 cup (st.) - 60 ml.
1 tablespoon (tbsp) - 15 ml.
1 teaspoon (tsp) - 5 ml.
1/5 teaspoon (tsp) - 1 ml.

Ingredients for the recipe:


  • Whites of 3 large eggs
  • 0.5 cups of sugar
  • 1/8 tsp salt
  • 0.5 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 package (400 g) of sweet coconut flakes

Cooking the dish according to the recipe:


  1. Preheat oven to 160°C and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Whisk egg whites, sugar, salt, and vanilla extract in a large bowl until smooth; fold in coconut.

  3. Spoon the coconut mixture, 1 heaping tablespoon at a time, onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2.5 cm apart. Use your fingers to shape them into pyramid shapes.
  4. Bake until golden brown around the edges, 20-25 minutes. Let cool on the baking sheet for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
