For a beautiful end to a romantic dinner, serve this light coffee panna cotta in martini glasses. This dessert has a truly Italian elegance and is incredibly easy to make—just give it time to set in the refrigerator. It's best to make the panna cotta a day in advance, and just before serving, garnish each serving with coarse shavings of white and dark chocolate.



The recipes use measuring containers with the following volumes:
1 glass (st.) - 250 ml.
3/4 cup (st.) - 180 ml.
2/3 cup (st.) - 160 ml.
1/2 cup (st.) - 125 ml.
1/3 cup (st.) - 80 ml.
1/4 cup (st.) - 60 ml.
1 tablespoon (tbsp) - 15 ml.
1 teaspoon (tsp) - 5 ml.
1/5 teaspoon (tsp) - 1 ml.

Ingredients for the recipe:


  • 0.5 cups whole milk
  • 1.5 tsp. unflavored gelatin powder
  • 1.5 cups heavy cream
  • 3 heaping teaspoons of instant espresso powder
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • A pinch of salt
  • 1 small bar of white chocolate, for decoration
  • 1 small bar of dark chocolate, for decoration

Cooking the dish according to the recipe:


  1. Pour the milk into a small, heavy-bottomed saucepan. Add the gelatin and let it sit for 5 minutes to soften. Stir over medium heat until the gelatin dissolves, but don't let the milk boil—about 2 minutes.
  2. Add the cream, espresso powder, sugar, and salt. Stir over low heat until the sugar dissolves, about 3 minutes more. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.

  3. Pour the creamy mixture evenly into 2 martini glasses. Cover and refrigerate. Stir every 20 minutes for the first hour. Refrigerate until completely set, at least 6 hours and up to 2 days.
  4. When you are ready to serveUsing a vegetable peeler, grate the chocolate bars until you have about 1 tablespoon of each white and dark chocolate shavings. Sprinkle each panna cotta with chocolate shavings and serve.
