Time: 5 min.
Complexity: easily
Quantity: 1 cocktail

The "Darkness and Storm" cocktail was invented in Bermuda in the early 20th century and became incredibly popular among sailing regatta participants. For the most authentic cocktail, we recommend using Gosling's rum. In this version, some of the dark rum is replaced with gold rum to create a beautiful gradient. Paired with ginger beer and freshly squeezed lime juice, the taste is truly extraordinary!

The recipes use measuring containers with the following volumes:
1 glass (st.) - 250 ml.
3/4 cup (st.) - 180 ml.
2/3 cup (st.) - 160 ml.
1/2 cup (st.) - 125 ml.
1/3 cup (st.) - 80 ml.
1/4 cup (st.) - 60 ml.
1 tablespoon (tbsp) - 15 ml.
1 teaspoon (tsp) - 5 ml.
1/5 teaspoon (tsp) - 1 ml.

Ingredients for the recipe:

  • Ice cubes
  • 1-2 juicy limes (you will need 30 ml of juice and a lime wedge for garnish)
  • 30 ml. golden rum, such as Gosling's
  • 180 ml ginger beer
  • 15 ml dark rum, such as Goslings's

Cooking the dish according to the recipe:

  1. Fill a tall glass or large wine glass with ice cubes. Add lime juice and golden rum. Top up with ginger beer and stir gently.
  2. Pour a layer of dark rum over the back of a wide, flat spoon. Don't worry if the layer isn't evenly defined; the flavor will be excellent either way. Garnish with a lime wedge. Drink.
