A Christmas stocking filled with coal might not be such a bad gift if it contains delicious edible coals made from puffed rice! Form the puffed rice into balls, coat them in chocolate, and roll them in dark cocoa powder. A fun way to prank someone who wasn't so good last year.

To make imitation coalsCook half a packet of Rice Krispies according to package directions. Then, while still warm, shape the crispy mixture into small balls of various shapes. Melt 1 pound of chopped dark chocolate in the microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring until completely melted. Dip the crispy balls in the melted chocolate and place on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Let set slightly, then roll in dark cocoa powder or crushed chocolate wafer cookies.
