To add a unique flavor to fresh fruit, drizzle your fruit platter with Sunny Anderson's Sweet and Sour Soy Syrup. Yes, soy sauce can be turned into syrup! To make it, heat it with brown sugar and a little lime juice, then simmer until it thickens.



The recipes use measuring containers with the following volumes:
1 glass (st.) - 250 ml.
3/4 cup (st.) - 180 ml.
2/3 cup (st.) - 160 ml.
1/2 cup (st.) - 125 ml.
1/3 cup (st.) - 80 ml.
1/4 cup (st.) - 60 ml.
1 tablespoon (tbsp) - 15 ml.
1 teaspoon (tsp) - 5 ml.
1/5 teaspoon (tsp) - 1 ml.

Ingredients for the recipe:


  • 1 cup firmly packed light brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp freshly squeezed lime juice
  • Fresh fruit, for serving

Cooking the dish according to the recipe:


  1. In a small saucepan, combine brown sugar and soy sauce.
  2. Stir to dissolve as much sugar as possible and cook over medium-high heat until the liquid level has reduced and the sugar has thickened the sauce to a syrup. Let cool to room temperature, then add lime juice. Pour the sauce over fresh fruit.
