Sweet and sour chicken sandwiches


How to Make Sweet and Sour Chicken Sandwiches

To make these delicious sandwiches, coat chicken breasts in flour, deep-fry, and then dip them in Asian sweet and sour sauce to coat completely. Serve on buns with a slice of cheese, tomato, and lettuce.


Ingredients:

  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • 2.5 cups of sour milk or kefir
  • 4 cups of flour
  • 4 chicken breasts, trimmed of fat
  • 4 brioches
  • 4 slices provolone cheese
  • 4 romaine lettuce leaves
  • 4 slices of plum tomatoes
  • 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil
  • 2 tablespoons grated ginger
  • 2 cloves garlic, crushed
  • 4 cups pineapple or orange juice
  • 2 tbsp. l. rice vinegar
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp. l. brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • Special equipment: deep fryer
Substituting ingredients
1 glass (st.) - 250 ml.
3/4 cup (st.) - 180 ml.
2/3 cup (st.) - 160 ml.
1/2 cup (st.) - 125 ml.
1/3 cup (st.) - 80 ml.
1/4 cup (st.) - 60 ml.
1 tablespoon (tbsp) - 15 ml.
1 teaspoon (tsp) - 5 ml.
1/5 teaspoon (tsp) - 1 ml.

Preparation:

    Step 1
  • Heat oil in a deep fryer.
  • Step 2
  • Place two deep plates on the table. Pour the sour milk into one plate and sprinkle flour into the other. Dip each chicken piece in the sour milk, then roll in flour, coating thoroughly on all sides.
  • Step 3
  • Place the chicken in the deep fryer and fry for 7 minutes. Place the cooked chicken breast on a paper towel to remove excess oil.
  • Step 4
  • Pour the sweet and sour sauce into a bowl large enough to evenly coat each chicken piece. Dip the chicken breasts in the sauce, then place one on each bun. Top with provolone cheese, lettuce, and tomatoes.
  • Step 5
  • Sweet and sour sauce:

    Heat a frying pan with vegetable oil. Add ginger and garlic and sauté until fragrant. Add juice, vinegar, soy sauce, and sugar. Bring to a boil and cook until the sugar dissolves. Stir in the cornstarch and water mixture (2 tablespoons cornstarch mixed with 4 tablespoons cold water) and let the sauce thicken, about 2 minutes.
