Thanks to Champagne, this sparkler delights everyone with its sparkling bubbles, creating a festive mood. Any white sparkling wine can be used instead of Champagne. Cucumber juice, lime juice, and lime zest give it a refreshing flavor, which is complemented by sweet elderflower liqueur and a touch of spicy orange bitters. Make a pitcher for the whole group and serve it in tall glasses as you prepare for the chimes of midnight. A worthy alternative to regular Champagne for New Year's.



The recipes use measuring containers with the following volumes:
1 glass (st.) - 250 ml.
3/4 cup (st.) - 180 ml.
2/3 cup (st.) - 160 ml.
1/2 cup (st.) - 125 ml.
1/3 cup (st.) - 80 ml.
1/4 cup (st.) - 60 ml.
1 tablespoon (tbsp) - 15 ml.
1 teaspoon (tsp) - 5 ml.
1/5 teaspoon (tsp) - 1 ml.

Ingredients for the recipe:


  • 2 Iranian cucumbers
  • Finely grated zest and juice of 1 lime
  • 3/4 cup elderflower liqueur (such as St-Germain)
  • Orange bitters
  • 6-8 sugar cubes
  • 1 bottle (750 ml) of champagne or other white sparkling wine, chilled

Cooking the dish according to the recipe:


  1. Grate the cucumbers coarsely. Wrap the grated cucumbers in a piece of cheesecloth or a clean kitchen towel and squeeze the cucumber juice into a pitcher; discard the remaining cucumbers. Stir in the lime zest and juice, elderflower liqueur, and 5-6 drops of orange bitters. Refrigerate until ready to serve, at least 30 minutes.
  2. Drop a sugar cube into each champagne flute and add a few drops of orange bitters. Pour the champagne into the pitcher and stir. Pour the cocktail into the glasses.
