If you love ordering fast food, and Chinese takeout in particular, you probably have a lot of packets of seasonings and sauces in your kitchen—the kind you usually use in excess and hate to throw away. You can use them to make a delicious dressing for a chicken salad that'll transform into a Chinese-inspired dish in just a few minutes. All you need is a cooked chicken breast (or leftover grilled chicken), raisins, and a green salad. Squeeze the sauces from the packets into the bottom of a plastic container, top with all the main ingredients, and shake well. It's a great salad option to take to work or on a picnic.

The recipes use measuring containers with the following volumes:
1 glass (st.) - 250 ml.
3/4 cup (st.) - 180 ml.
2/3 cup (st.) - 160 ml.
1/2 cup (st.) - 125 ml.
1/3 cup (st.) - 80 ml.
1/4 cup (st.) - 60 ml.
1 tablespoon (tbsp) - 15 ml.
1 teaspoon (tsp) - 5 ml.
1/5 teaspoon (tsp) - 1 ml.

Ingredients for the recipe:

Salad

  • 1 cup finely chopped cooked chicken breast (about 200g)
  • 0.5 cups loosely packed ready-made cabbage salad mixes (Savoy and red cabbage, carrots, etc.)
  • 0.5 cup loosely packed prepared green salad mix
  • 1 heaping tbsp (1 small box) light raisins

Refueling

  • 2 packets (1 tbsp. + 1 tsp.) duck sauce
  • 2 packets (1 tbsp. + 1 tsp.) of mayonnaise
  • 1 packet (2 tsp) soy sauce
  • 1 packet (pinch) red pepper flakes (they go with pizza!)
  • A little lemon juice (you can use a lemon wedge from your tea)

Cooking the dish according to the recipe:

  1. RefuelingIn a medium-sized container with an airtight lid, combine the duck sauce, mayonnaise, and soy sauce. Stir and sprinkle with red pepper flakes and lemon juice.
  2. SaladAdd the chicken, salad mix, and raisins. Close the container and shake vigorously for a few seconds to combine. Done!

    Note

Remember those fast-food salads served in big glasses? You can make those too. Take an empty drink glass with a lid. Pour the dressing into the bottom (if you've done this before, you know you don't even need to mix it up; just squeeze everything out of the packets and spritz with lemon juice), then top with raisins, chicken, and lettuce. Close the glass, refrigerate it, and then shake it up for lunch!
