This simple recipe for delicious pizza dough is easy to master, even if it's your first time making pizza from scratch. All you need is yeast, a little honey to activate it, flour, and a teaspoon of coarse salt. The water for the yeast should be warm, approximately 38°C-40°C. It's best to use a mixer with a dough hook to mix the dough. Once it's elastic, let it rise, brush it with olive oil, and it's ready to use. Cooking the dish according to the recipe:
- Add honey and yeast to 1 cup of warm water. Stir until completely dissolved. Let the mixture sit for 3 minutes to ensure the yeast is active; the mixture should foam and bubble.
- Place the flour and salt in the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with a dough hook. Add the yeast mixture and mix on low speed until the dough begins to come together. Increase the speed to medium and mix for 8 minutes. The dough should begin to pull away from the sides of the bowl but still be soft and slightly sticky to the bottom. Add an additional 1 tablespoon of flour if needed.
- Grease your hands with olive oil and form the dough into a ball. Place the dough in a bowl greased with olive oil. Cover with a towel and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour, until it doubles in size.
- Punch down the dough and cut it into 4 equal pieces if making small pizzas, or simply reshape it into a ball if making one large pizza, and let it rest for another hour.
The dough is ready to use.
