Basbosa - Egyptian coconut cake
Votes: 15

Required culinary skills:
- How to use a wooden spoon to stir ingredients.
- How to grease a rectangular baking pan.
- How to place the pan in the oven.
- How to cut Basbousa into diamonds.
The hardest part is obviously the last one, so if you're not striving for perfection, just skip it and cut it into rectangles—no one will complain! Also, the Basbousa recipe calls for almost two cups of syrup, which might seem like too much, but I assure you, it's not. You need to soak the warm cake with exactly the full volume of cool syrup.
