Chocolate mousse with marshmallows

How to Make Chocolate Mousse with Marshmallows

Our lazy mousse has no yolks or whites, and there's no whisking or waiting involved. Plus, the lack of raw eggs means you can be more relaxed about giving this three-ingredient mousse (chocolate, marshmallows, and whipped cream) to little ones, though I'm sure they'll be the ones to benefit. It's so nice to be a fairy.

Chocolate mousse typically takes a good few hours, if not a whole day, to prepare before you can enjoy it, as the yolk needs to set and the whipped whites need to infuse with air bubbles. Forget about it!

The recipes use measuring containers with the following volumes:
1 glass (st.) - 250 ml.
3/4 cup (st.) - 180 ml.
2/3 cup (st.) - 160 ml.
1/2 cup (st.) - 125 ml.
1/3 cup (st.) - 80 ml.
1/4 cup (st.) - 60 ml.
1 tablespoon (tbsp) - 15 ml.
1 teaspoon (tsp) - 5 ml.
1/5 teaspoon (tsp) - 1 ml.

Ingredients for the recipe:

  • 3 cups mini marshmallows
  • 1/2 cup softened butter
  • 255 g semi-sweet chocolate, chopped into small pieces
  • 1/4 cup hot water (from a recently boiled kettle)
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Cooking the dish according to the recipe:

  1. Place marshmallows, butter, chocolate and water in a heavy-bottomed saucepan.

Place the pan on the stovetop over very low heat until the ingredients melt, stirring occasionally. Remove from heat.
  2. Meanwhile, whip the cream with vanilla until it thickens, then mix it with the cooled chocolate mixture until you get a smooth, viscous cream.

Pour the mixture into 4-6 glasses or small bowls and chill before serving. The sooner the better!
