Mulled wine - detailed recipe.



The recipes use measuring containers with the following volumes:
1 glass (st.) - 250 ml.
3/4 cup (st.) - 180 ml.
2/3 cup (st.) - 160 ml.
1/2 cup (st.) - 125 ml.
1/3 cup (st.) - 80 ml.
1/4 cup (st.) - 60 ml.
1 tablespoon (tbsp) - 15 ml.
1 teaspoon (tsp) - 5 ml.
1/5 teaspoon (tsp) - 1 ml.

Ingredients for the recipe:


  • 4 wide strips of orange zest
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 bottle of dry red wine
  • 1/2 tsp whole cloves
  • 1/2 teaspoon whole peppercorns
  • 3 fruits star anise
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 1 bay leaf

Cooking the dish according to the recipe:


  1. Mix the orange zest with sugar and let it steep for 1 hour. Pour the red wine into the pan, add the cloves, peppercorns, star anise, cinnamon stick, bay leaf, and the zest-sugar mixture. Place the pan on the stove and heat over medium heat for about 15 minutes (do not bring to a boil). Remove the pan from the stove, cover, and let the mulled wine steep for 40-50 minutes.
  2. Pour the mulled wine into thick glass glasses, leaving the spices and zest in the pan. Garnish with cinnamon sticks. Serve hot.
