This banana shake is beautiful, delicious, and easy to make. If desired, you can make a non-alcoholic version by omitting the rum and liqueur. The result will be just as delicious. Top the cocktail with whipped cream and a little caramel sauce.

- Melt the sugar in a small saucepan over medium heat. When it turns amber, add the butter and stir until melted. Remove from heat and slowly whisk in the cream, being careful not to splash. Pour half of the caramel into a bowl.
- Stir the bananas into the remaining caramel in the saucepan and return to medium-high heat. Stir and cook until softened (about 2 minutes). Let cool slightly.
- Add the ice cream, banana-caramel mixture, liqueur, and rum to a blender and blend until smooth. Pour the reserved caramel down the sides of the glasses. Pour in the shake and serve.
