Crazy cake translates from English as "insane pie." The recipe dates back to the 1930s, when food supplies were seriously scarce and housewives struggled to please their families with masterpieces. They created recipes using whatever they had on hand...



The recipes use measuring containers with the following volumes:
1 glass (st.) - 250 ml.
3/4 cup (st.) - 180 ml.
2/3 cup (st.) - 160 ml.
1/2 cup (st.) - 125 ml.
1/3 cup (st.) - 80 ml.
1/4 cup (st.) - 60 ml.
1 tablespoon (tbsp) - 15 ml.
1 teaspoon (tsp) - 5 ml.
1/5 teaspoon (tsp) - 1 ml.

Ingredients for the recipe:


For the test you will need:

  • 3 cups of flour
  • 2 cups of sugar
  • One and a half glasses of cold water
  • 2 teaspoons of soda
  • 2 tablespoons of vinegar and starch
  • Half a teaspoon of salt
  • A glass of vegetable oil
  • Half a cup of cocoa powder
  • A packet of vanillin

For the ganache cream:

  • 170 ml of milk
  • Half a glass of sugar
  • 3-4 tablespoons cocoa powder
  • 2 tablespoons of starch

Cooking the dish according to the recipe:


  1. The pie is prepared quite quickly: Take a large bowl and pour all the dry ingredients into it.
  2. Add vegetable oil, water and vinegar and mix everything thoroughly (it’s better to use a whisk).

  3. Grease a baking pan and pour the batter into it. Place the pie in a preheated oven at 170 degrees Celsius and bake for 20-25 minutes.
  4. We place the prepared miracle on a plate and let it cool while we prepare for it. ganache cream.
  5. For the cream, take a small saucepan, pour in the milk, add sugar, cocoa and stir until dissolved.
  6. Dissolve the starch in a quarter cup of water and pour the mixture into the saucepan in a thin stream, stirring constantly.
  7. Continue stirring until the first bubble appears. Then immediately remove the cream, let it cool, and pour it over the pie.
  8. This dish is incredibly easy to prepare, doesn't require a lot of ingredients or money, and best of all, it simply melts in your mouth! It's gone in minutes!
