Sweet potatoes have a natural sweetness that makes them an excellent ingredient for sweet pies. Make a pie filling using mashed sweet potatoes, adding a few fragrant spices, sugar, butter, and eggs. Spread it into a store-bought or homemade pie crust, and bake until the tender filling sets. This is arguably the best sweet potato pie ever made.

The recipes use measuring containers with the following volumes:
1 glass (st.) - 250 ml.
3/4 cup (st.) - 180 ml.
2/3 cup (st.) - 160 ml.
1/2 cup (st.) - 125 ml.
1/3 cup (st.) - 80 ml.
1/4 cup (st.) - 60 ml.
1 tablespoon (tbsp) - 15 ml.
1 teaspoon (tsp) - 5 ml.
1/5 teaspoon (tsp) - 1 ml.

Ingredients for the recipe:

  • 1.5 cups canned sweet potatoes or 2-3 baked tubers, peeled and pressed through a puree press
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 4 tbsp (55 g) softened butter
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/4 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
  • A pinch of salt
  • 1 base for a pie with a diameter of 22 cm, homemade or store-bought

Cooking the dish according to the recipe:

  1. Preheat oven to 150°C.
  2. In the bowl of a stand mixer, combine the sweet potato with 1/2 cup sugar, then add the eggs, butter, milk, vanilla extract, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt. Beat until smooth. Pour the filling into the pie crust and sprinkle with the remaining 1/4 cup sugar. Let the pie stand for 15 minutes before baking to allow the sugar to melt.

  3. Bake until a toothpick inserted into the center of the filling comes out clean, about 1 hour. Let cool completely and serve.
