Potato Anna is a delicious pie made with just two basic ingredients: potatoes and butter. Try a twist on the traditional recipe and use sweet potatoes instead of regular potatoes. This version is made with sweet potatoes of different colors, resulting in a deliciously colorful pie, but you can use just one color. It's best cooked in a cast-iron skillet for the crispiest crust. If you don't have a cast-iron skillet, you can use any skillet, as long as it's oven-safe.

The recipes use measuring containers with the following volumes:
1 glass (st.) - 250 ml.
3/4 cup (st.) - 180 ml.
2/3 cup (st.) - 160 ml.
1/2 cup (st.) - 125 ml.
1/3 cup (st.) - 80 ml.
1/4 cup (st.) - 60 ml.
1 tablespoon (tbsp) - 15 ml.
1 teaspoon (tsp) - 5 ml.
1/5 teaspoon (tsp) - 1 ml.

Ingredients for the recipe:

  • 1.3 kg sweet potatoes of various colors, peeled
  • 165 g butter

Cooking the dish according to the recipe:

  1. Preheat oven to 200°C.
  2. Thinly slice the sweet potato using a mandoline, a food processor, or a sharp chef's knife. Place the butter in a cast-iron or other oven-safe skillet and melt in the preheated oven. Remove the skillet and swirl it to coat the entire surface, then pour it into another container.

  3. Lay the sweet potato slices in concentric circles, overlapping each other, in the skillet, brushing each layer with a little melted butter, seasoning with salt and black pepper, and pressing down until all the sweet potato and butter are used. Place a layer of foil directly on top of the sweet potato slices and place the empty skillet on top to press the sweet potato slices down.
  4. Bake until the potato pie comes out easily with a knife, about 45 minutes. Run a metal spatula around the edge of the pie, then carefully invert it onto a serving platter.
