Recipe for making tortillas from wheat flour.



The recipes use measuring containers with the following volumes:
1 glass (st.) - 250 ml.
3/4 cup (st.) - 180 ml.
2/3 cup (st.) - 160 ml.
1/2 cup (st.) - 125 ml.
1/3 cup (st.) - 80 ml.
1/4 cup (st.) - 60 ml.
1 tablespoon (tbsp) - 15 ml.
1 teaspoon (tsp) - 5 ml.
1/5 teaspoon (tsp) - 1 ml.

Ingredients for the recipe:


  • 270 g of premium wheat flour, plus 1/4 cup for mixing and rolling
  • 1 teaspoon of salt
  • 1/3 cup lard
  • 1/2 cup cold water

Cooking the dish according to the recipe:


  1. In a bowl, combine 270g of flour and salt. Add lard and mix until coarse crumbs form. Add water and knead the dough until smooth.
  2. Sprinkle a clean work surface with 1/4 cup flour. Place the dough on the surface and continue kneading until the dough is elastic and no longer sticks to your hands. Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and let it rest at room temperature for 1 hour.

  3. Divide the dough into 8 pieces and form into balls. Cover with a kitchen towel. Roll each ball out on a lightly floured work surface into 17 cm rounds.
  4. Fry the tortillas in a preheated nonstick skillet over medium heat for 1-2 minutes per side. Line the tortillas with parchment paper.
