These date balls are inspired by the traditional English date toffee pudding, a delicious and caramelly treat. Unlike the pudding, however, these balls don't require baking. Simply combine all the ingredients, form them, and refrigerate. Roll the balls in sugar or powdered sugar and serve them as candies. These balls are absolutely delicious. Brown sugar mixed with dates and butter gives them a rich caramel or toffee flavor, orange zest adds a bright citrus note, and walnuts blend seamlessly into this flavor combination.

3/4 cup (st.) - 180 ml.

1/2 cup (st.) - 125 ml.
1/3 cup (st.) - 80 ml.

1 tablespoon (tbsp) - 15 ml.
1 teaspoon (tsp) - 5 ml.
1/5 teaspoon (tsp) - 1 ml.

Ingredients for the recipe:
- 1 cup pitted dates (about 150 g)
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 2 tbsp (30 g) butter
- 1 cup walnuts
- 1 teaspoon orange zest
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- A pinch of fine salt
- 4 whole graham crackers, broken into pieces
- Colored decorative sugar, for sprinkling

Cooking the dish according to the recipe:
- Place the dates, brown sugar, and butter in a microwave-safe bowl and cover. Microwave on full power in 1-minute intervals, stirring occasionally, until the butter is melted.
- Transfer the mixture to a food processor and process until smooth. Add walnuts, orange zest, vanilla, salt, and graham crackers and pulse until the mixture forms a firm, slightly sticky ball. Scoop a heaping teaspoon of dough and roll into balls. Refrigerate for about 1 hour, until firm.
- Roll the cooled balls in colored sugar. The sticky date balls can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
