Hot sandwiches have never been so exquisite. Melting camembert with thin slices of sweet and tart apple and a pinch of chives are sandwiched between two crispy baguette slices. The sandwiches are served with salted caramel, hinting at thyme. Just a little dipping is enough to deliver a ton of unique, vibrant flavor.

The recipes use measuring containers with the following volumes:
1 glass (st.) - 250 ml.
3/4 cup (st.) - 180 ml.
2/3 cup (st.) - 160 ml.
1/2 cup (st.) - 125 ml.
1/3 cup (st.) - 80 ml.
1/4 cup (st.) - 60 ml.
1 tablespoon (tbsp) - 15 ml.
1 teaspoon (tsp) - 5 ml.
1/5 teaspoon (tsp) - 1 ml.

Ingredients for the recipe:

  • 1/4 cup store-bought caramel sauce or dulce de leche
  • 3 sprigs of thyme
  • Half a baguette
  • 110 g Camembert, remove rind, thinly slice the cheese
  • 1 tbsp chopped fresh chives
  • 1 Granny Smith apple, thinly sliced
  • 1 tbsp unsalted butter + more as needed
  • Sea salt flakes, for sprinkling

We recommend

Cooking the dish according to the recipe:

  1. Combine the caramel sauce, thyme sprigs, and 2 tablespoons of water in a small microwave-safe bowl and heat for 1 minute. Cover and keep warm.
  2. Cut the baguette at an angle into 4 long slices. Spread half the cheese on 2 slices of bread and sprinkle with half the chives. Top with apple slices, the remaining cheese, chives, and 2 slices of bread.

  3. In a large skillet over medium heat, melt the butter. Add the sandwiches and cook, pressing occasionally with a spatula, until the bread is golden brown and the cheese is melted, about 4 minutes per side, adding more butter to the pan if necessary.
  4. Remove the thyme from the caramel sauce and sprinkle with sea salt. Serve the caramel with the sandwiches for dipping.
