Think chocolate fondue is out of place on a camping trip? Imagine a cozy evening with close friends around a campfire with a pot of hot chocolate over smoldering coals. Everyone will love this dessert! And it's incredibly easy to make. What's more, this isn't just any chocolate fondue: the chocolate is topped with a luxurious salted caramel (dulce de leche, a type of condensed milk). Note that coarse salt is used in the preparation. If you substitute table salt, you'll need to reduce the amount. Dip berries, fruit, crackers, or marshmallows into the fondue and enjoy. The leftovers can be used to make a hot chocolate drink.

Cooking the dish according to the recipe:
- Build a small fire and place a grate over it. Break the chocolate bars into small pieces using the handle of a wooden spoon (or you can smash the bar against a bench).
- Unwrap the chocolate and pour the pieces into a medium saucepan along with the dulce de leche, 1/2 cup and 1 teaspoon coarse salt.
- Place the pan on a grill over the heat and heat, stirring occasionally, until the chocolate has melted and the sauce is completely smooth, about 5 minutes. If the sauce is too thick, add water 1 tablespoon at a time until the desired consistency is reached.
- Serve with suggested garnishes, such as marshmallows, graham crackers, berries, pineapple chunks, grapes, shortbread cookies, or vanilla wafers. Leftover fondue can be mixed with hot water to make hot chocolate.
