Homemade chocolate fondue

"Fondue" means "molten" in French. Chocolate fondue is a fragrant substance simmered over a flame in a special container, into which fruit and pieces of cake, impaled on special skewers, are dipped. They are immediately coated in a thick chocolate glaze, transforming into a delicious treat.


Ingredients:

  • 2 tablespoons of sugar
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 220 g chopped dark chocolate
  • 1 tbsp (15 g) butter
  • 1 tbsp Cabernet Sauvignon red wine
  • Cake pieces, for dipping
  • Strawberries for dipping
  • Biscotti cookies for dipping
Substituting ingredients
1 glass (st.) - 250 ml.
3/4 cup (st.) - 180 ml.
2/3 cup (st.) - 160 ml.
1/2 cup (st.) - 125 ml.
1/3 cup (st.) - 80 ml.
1/4 cup (st.) - 60 ml.
1 tablespoon (tbsp) - 15 ml.
1 teaspoon (tsp) - 5 ml.
1/5 teaspoon (tsp) - 1 ml.

Preparation:

    Step 1
  • In a microwave-safe bowl, combine sugar, heavy cream, chocolate, and butter and melt in the microwave for 2 minutes.
  • Step 2
  • Remove from microwave and whisk briefly. Add wine and whisk again. Pour into a lit fondue pan. Serve with cake slices, strawberries, and cookies for dipping.
