Homemade barbecue sauce - a detailed recipe.


Ingredients:

  • 4 tablespoons crushed chipotle peppers (smoked jalapeños) in adobo sauce
  • 1 tbsp. l. rapeseed oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 onion, diced
  • 1 cup ketchup
  • 1/3 cup molasses
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar
  • 4 tbsp. vinegar 5%
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt
Substituting ingredients
1 glass (st.) - 250 ml.
3/4 cup (st.) - 180 ml.
2/3 cup (st.) - 160 ml.
1/2 cup (st.) - 125 ml.
1/3 cup (st.) - 80 ml.
1/4 cup (st.) - 60 ml.
1 tablespoon (tbsp) - 15 ml.
1 teaspoon (tsp) - 5 ml.
1/5 teaspoon (tsp) - 1 ml.

Preparation:

    Step 1
  • Heat oil in a saucepan over medium heat. Add garlic and onion and cook for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, being careful not to burn the vegetables. Reduce heat to low.
  • Step 2
  • Add ketchup, molasses, brown sugar, pepper, vinegar (to taste), Worcestershire sauce, and salt and stir. Let simmer for 20 minutes. Taste after simmering and adjust the flavor (by adding more spices or sugar).
    Exit: 2 tbsp.
