Traditional Italian mozzarella is made from buffalo milk, but variations of this cheese also exist, made from cow's and goat's milk. The cheese is added to a variety of dishes, including pizza, pasta, and salads. To make homemade mozzarella, you'll need cheese curd, water, and a little time.

Pass the cheese mixture through a sieve or a slotted spoon several times, breaking it into small particles. Place the grated cheese mixture in a saucepan of warm water, making sure the water just covers it. Knead the mixture with your hands. Drain 75% of the water.

Using a spatula or wooden spoon, press the cheese mass. Gently stretch the mozzarella. Pour boiling water over it. Knead and stretch the cheese again. Drain 75% of the water and add the same amount of boiling water. Repeat the process and roll the mozzarella into a smooth ball, folding the edges downward.
