Homemade lemonade - a step-by-step recipe for a summer drink made from fresh lemons at home.


Ingredients:

  • 14 - 16 lemons, plus lemon slices for garnish
  • 1.5 cups of sugar
Substituting ingredients
1 glass (st.) - 250 ml.
3/4 cup (st.) - 180 ml.
2/3 cup (st.) - 160 ml.
1/2 cup (st.) - 125 ml.
1/3 cup (st.) - 80 ml.
1/4 cup (st.) - 60 ml.
1 tablespoon (tbsp) - 15 ml.
1 teaspoon (tsp) - 5 ml.
1/5 teaspoon (tsp) - 1 ml.

Preparation:

    Step 1
  • Using a vegetable peeler, peel the zest from 2 lemons in wide strips, then juice enough lemons to make 2 cups. Chill the juice.
  • Step 2
  • In a medium saucepan, combine the sugar, lemon zest, and 1.5 cups water. Bring to a boil and simmer, stirring occasionally, until the sugar dissolves, about 2 minutes. Pour into a pitcher and refrigerate, about 1 hour.
  • Step 3
  • Remove the lemon zest from the syrup. Pour 3 cups of cold water and lemon juice into a pitcher and stir. Pour 1 cup of lemonade into a bowl and add 3 cups of water. Pour the lemonade mixture into ice cube trays and freeze until firm, about 2 hours. Refrigerate the pitcher of lemonade until ready to serve.
  • Step 4
  • Add a few ice cubes to the pitcher along with the lemon slices. Serve the homemade lemonade in glasses with the remaining ice cubes.
