Recipe for a treat - Gummy bears made from gelatin and natural juice.

Who would have thought one of the most beloved, nostalgic treats could be made so quickly and easily? Gummy bears may have been your favorite candy as a child, and now they'll be a popular treat again with this quick and easy homemade recipe.


Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup fruit juice, such as cranberry, grape, orange, or lemonade
  • 2 tablespoons powdered gelatin
  • 2 tablespoons of sugar
  • Special equipment: two silicone molds for 50 bears
Substituting ingredients
1 glass (st.) - 250 ml.
3/4 cup (st.) - 180 ml.
2/3 cup (st.) - 160 ml.
1/2 cup (st.) - 125 ml.
1/3 cup (st.) - 80 ml.
1/4 cup (st.) - 60 ml.
1 tablespoon (tbsp) - 15 ml.
1 teaspoon (tsp) - 5 ml.
1/5 teaspoon (tsp) - 1 ml.

Preparation:

    Step 1
  • In a small saucepan, combine the fruit juice or lemonade, gelatin, and sugar. Cook over low heat, stirring frequently, until the gelatin and sugar are completely dissolved, about 1 minute (make sure there is no undissolved sugar at the bottom of the saucepan). If foam forms, skim it off and discard. Pour the mixture into a measuring cup.
  • Step 2
  • Place the silicone molds on a flat surface and slowly fill each cavity to the top. Gently wiggle the molds to help the mixture settle to the bottom. Chill in the freezer until the mixture sets, about 10 minutes. Store the gummy bears in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days.
