If you want a hot, delicious dinner waiting for you at home tomorrow after work without much effort, put the ingredients for a pot roast (a meat and vegetable stew) in a slow cooker the night before. Chop the onion, season the beef, pour in canned stewed tomatoes, and add onion soup mix. In the morning, after eight hours, stir in the celery and canned celery soup mix and let it simmer for another eight hours. Remarkably, not only does this delicious dinner require minimal preparation, but most of the ingredients are pre-made, which will impart fantastic flavor to the meat with minimal effort.



The recipes use measuring containers with the following volumes:
1 glass (st.) - 250 ml.
3/4 cup (st.) - 180 ml.
2/3 cup (st.) - 160 ml.
1/2 cup (st.) - 125 ml.
1/3 cup (st.) - 80 ml.
1/4 cup (st.) - 60 ml.
1 tablespoon (tbsp) - 15 ml.
1 teaspoon (tsp) - 5 ml.
1/5 teaspoon (tsp) - 1 ml.

Ingredients for the recipe:


  • 1 large flank steak (about 1.3 kg)
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 2 tsp steak seasoning
  • 1 packet (28.3 g) of dry onion soup mix or 3 Maggi bouillon cubes
  • 1 can (400 g) Italian-style stewed tomatoes
  • 3 stalks celery, cut into 2.5cm pieces.
  • 1 can (300 g) of concentrated creamy celery soup

Cooking the dish according to the recipe:


  1. Place the onion in the bottom of a 5-quart slow cooker. Rub the steak seasoning and place on the onion. Sprinkle with dry seasoning and pour in the tomatoes along with the liquid. Cover and cook on low heat for 8 hours (overnight).
  2. In the morning, mix fresh celery with creamy celery soupAdd the mixture to the slow cooker. Cover and continue cooking for another 8 hours. Serve the meat hot with the gravy.
