Using a slow cooker, you can prepare this Mexican-style dish in just over half an hour, and the flavor is rich, as if it had been simmering for half a day. It contains chili (full name – chili con carneChili with meat (or "chili with meat") is made with ground beef, chili powder, canned baked tomatoes, and canned pinto beans. The highlight of this dish is a teaspoon of instant coffee or cocoa for a richer, more complex flavor. Cook the chili in a pressure cooker and enjoy with hot jalapeño rings, grated cheese, and a dollop of sour cream. Serve with steamed rice.



The recipes use measuring containers with the following volumes:
1 glass (st.) - 250 ml.
3/4 cup (st.) - 180 ml.
2/3 cup (st.) - 160 ml.
1/2 cup (st.) - 125 ml.
1/3 cup (st.) - 80 ml.
1/4 cup (st.) - 60 ml.
1 tablespoon (tbsp) - 15 ml.
1 teaspoon (tsp) - 5 ml.
1/5 teaspoon (tsp) - 1 ml.

Ingredients for the recipe:


  • 0.7 kg ground beef
  • 1 tbsp. vegetable oil
  • 1/4 cup chili powder
  • 2 cloves garlic, crushed
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 1 can (450 g) of canned baked tomatoes
  • 1 can (450 g) pinto beans, rinsed
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon instant coffee or unsweetened cocoa powder
  • For serving: cooked rice, grated cheese, sour cream and pickled jalapeño rings (or your favorite toppings)
  • Special equipment: multicooker with a capacity of 6 liters.

Cooking the dish according to the recipe:


  1. Set the slow cooker to sauté mode and add the vegetable oil. Once hot, add the ground beef, chili powder, and 1 teaspoon of salt. Cook, stirring and breaking up the ground beef, but not too finely, until golden brown, about 5 minutes. Add the garlic and onion and cook, stirring, for another 1 minute. baked tomatoes, beans, Worcestershire sauce, and coffee or cocoa and stir to distribute evenly. Follow the manufacturer's instructions, close the lid of the multicooker, and set the pressure cooker to 10 minutes.
  2. After the steamer cycle is complete, release the pressure according to the instructions and wait for the cycle to complete. Be careful of any residual steam; open and remove the lid.

  3. Season with salt if desired and serve over rice with grated cheese, sour cream and pickled jalapeños.
