Bean-free chili made with beef shoulder in a slow cooker - a detailed recipe.



The recipes use measuring containers with the following volumes:
1 glass (st.) - 250 ml.
3/4 cup (st.) - 180 ml.
2/3 cup (st.) - 160 ml.
1/2 cup (st.) - 125 ml.
1/3 cup (st.) - 80 ml.
1/4 cup (st.) - 60 ml.
1 tablespoon (tbsp) - 15 ml.
1 teaspoon (tsp) - 5 ml.
1/5 teaspoon (tsp) - 1 ml.

Ingredients for the recipe:


  • 1 kg beef shoulder, cut into small 1 cm cubes
  • 1 (800g) can of chopped tomatoes
  • 2 tbsp. l. canola oil
  • 2 medium onions, chopped
  • 1 tbsp chili powder
  • 0.5 tsp red pepper flakes
  • 0.5 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 small jalapeño pepper, finely chopped
  • 1 tbsp chopped garlic
  • 1 cup beef broth

Hot sour cream:

  • 0.5 cup sour cream
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon lime juice
  • 1 teaspoon hot sauce
  • 2 green onions
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh cilantro

Cooking the dish according to the recipe:


  1. Place a heavy-bottomed saucepan over medium heat and add oil. Add the beef, season with salt and pepper, and cook until browned, about 10-15 minutes. Remove the meat from the pan with a slotted spoon and drain off any excess fat. Pour in half the broth, scraping up any browned bits of meat from the bottom.

    Pour the broth into the slow cooker. Add the onion and place the meat on top. chili seasoning, red pepper flakes, cinnamon, jalapeño and garlic.
  2. Add the tomatoes with their juice and the remaining half of the broth. Cover and simmer for 4-6 hours. Taste and adjust seasonings to taste. Serve with hot sour cream.
