Slow Cooker Pork Sandwiches

The pulled pork in the slow cooker for these sandwiches simply melts in your mouth. For added flavor, you can use root beer or ginger beer instead of water. Either way, these pulled pork sandwiches are a great treat for a crowd. You can also try cooking the pork in a pressure cooker. It takes 45-50 minutes. You may need to increase the seasonings with this cooking method to achieve a richer flavor.
Ingredients:
Pork
- 1.8 kg pork shoulder
- 5-6 cloves
- 3 tablespoons dry barbecue marinade, recipe included
- 2 red onions, thinly sliced
- 500 ml. barbecue sauce
Dry marinade for barbecue
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 3 tbsp. l. brown sugar
- 2 tbsp dark chili powder
- 2 tbsp smoked paprika
- 1 tbsp garlic powder
- 1 tbsp onion powder
- 1 tbsp. ground black pepper
- 1 tbsp coarse salt
- 1 teaspoon mustard powder
- 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper
- Mix all ingredients in a bowl
1 glass (st.) - 250 ml.
3/4 cup (st.) - 180 ml.
2/3 cup (st.) - 160 ml.
1/2 cup (st.) - 125 ml.
1/3 cup (st.) - 80 ml.
1/4 cup (st.) - 60 ml.
1 tablespoon (tbsp) - 15 ml.
1 teaspoon (tsp) - 5 ml.
1/5 teaspoon (tsp) - 1 ml.
3/4 cup (st.) - 180 ml.
2/3 cup (st.) - 160 ml.
1/2 cup (st.) - 125 ml.
1/3 cup (st.) - 80 ml.
1/4 cup (st.) - 60 ml.
1 tablespoon (tbsp) - 15 ml.
1 teaspoon (tsp) - 5 ml.
1/5 teaspoon (tsp) - 1 ml.

- Step 1
- Stab the pork with cloves and rub with barbecue mixture. Place in a slow cooker and top with onions. Pour 2 cups of water over the pork and simmer gently for 8-10 hours. Remove the pork, discard the cloves, the layer of fat, and any remaining juices. Step 2
- When the pork is cool enough to handle, flake and shred it using a fork or your hands. Return the pork to the slow cooker along with the barbecue sauce. Cook for 1-2 hours. Step 3
- Serve the pork in a bun of your choice.Dark malt beer is recommended for this dish.
