Preparation:

    Step 1
  • In a small bowl, combine tiriaki, paprika, and pepper. Brush the pork with the mixture until it's completely coated.

Mix in a bowl chicken broth, brown sugar, soy sauce, chili sauce and pineapple juice.
  • Step 2
  • Place the chopped onion and carrot in a 5-liter multicooker. Place the pork on top of the vegetables and pour half of the pineapple juice mixture over it.

Reserve the remaining mixture for the Hawaiian sauce. Close the slow cooker and cook on the lowest setting for 7-8 hours. The meat should fall apart easily.
  • Step 3
  • Remove the meat from the slow cooker and transfer it to a cutting board. Using two forks, carefully shred the meat.
  • Step 4
  • Serve the pork on buns, drizzling with Hawaiian sauce or using it for dipping. Leftover pork can be used to make Chinese dumplings and Hawaiian pizza with pineapple.

Pair this dish with Riesling wine.

Hawaiian sauce: Heat oil in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Add garlic and ginger and sauté until softened, about 2 minutes. Add the remaining pineapple mixture, bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 10 minutes.
