Give slow-cooked pork a more savory flavor by adding Jamaican jerk sauce. Pork shoulder is ideal for this recipe. After a long simmer, it literally falls apart, leaving it tender and juicy. Shred it with two forks, toss with the sauce it was braised in, and serve on buns as sandwiches.

The recipes use measuring containers with the following volumes:
1 glass (st.) - 250 ml.
3/4 cup (st.) - 180 ml.
2/3 cup (st.) - 160 ml.
1/2 cup (st.) - 125 ml.
1/3 cup (st.) - 80 ml.
1/4 cup (st.) - 60 ml.
1 tablespoon (tbsp) - 15 ml.
1 teaspoon (tsp) - 5 ml.
1/5 teaspoon (tsp) - 1 ml.

Ingredients for the recipe:

  • Boneless pork shoulder weighing 1 kg.
  • 3/4 cup Jamaican jerk sauce
  • 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
  • Half an onion, coarsely chopped
  • 4 cloves garlic, crushed
  • 8 potato buns

Cooking the dish according to the recipe:

  1. Season the pork shoulder with salt and pepper and place in a 6-8 quart slow cooker. Add Jamaican sauce, vinegar, onion, and garlic. Cover and cook on low heat for 8 hours.
  2. Remove the pork from the slow cooker and strain the liquid into a small saucepan. Bring it to a boil on the stovetop, then reduce the heat and simmer until reduced by half.

  3. Meanwhile, shred the pork with a fork, season with salt and pepper to taste, and toss with the reduced sauce. Serve the braised pork on potato buns with coleslaw, mango chutney, and sweet potato chips.
