Giada De Laurentiis's recipe for this sweet pastry takes just 30 minutes to prepare. You can cut down on prep time by using ready-made yeast pizza dough. After frying the dough, Giada chooses one of two garnish options: sprinkle with cinnamon sugar or coat with milk chocolate glaze and top with crunchy toasted almonds.

Cooking the dish according to the recipe:
- On a lightly floured surface, roll out the dough to a thickness of 1.5 cm. Using a floured 5 cm cookie cutter, cut out circles for the donuts. Using a 2.5 cm cookie cutter, cut a hole in the center of each donut. Gather the scraps and roll out again. Cut out more donuts.
- Combine sugar and cinnamon in a medium bowl. Set aside.
- Pour equal parts vegetable and olive oil into a large frying pan to a depth of 5 cm. Heat the oil over medium heat until the oil reaches 190°C (350°F) (check with a thermometer). Fry the donuts in batches for 45 seconds on each side until they are puffed but still pale. Using a slotted spoon, transfer the donuts to a paper towel to remove excess oil. Cool slightly. While still warm, generously sprinkle with cinnamon sugar twice. Serve warm.
- For the second option, cool the fried donuts to room temperature. In a saucepan, combine 85 g milk chocolate And 1/4 cup cream for whipping and melt over medium-low heat. Wait until the chocolate sauce cools to room temperature, but does not set. Dip one side of each donut into the chocolate mixture. Sprinkle with finely chopped fried almonds or ground coffee and let the chocolate harden.
