Quantity: 5.5 cups (1300 ml dry mixture)

The secret to making Alton Brown's traditional hot chocolate is a pre-made mixture of cocoa, powdered sugar, and powdered milk. Simply combine the dry ingredients and pour as much as you want into a cup, and the rest can be used at any time.

The recipes use measuring containers with the following volumes:
1 glass (st.) - 250 ml.
3/4 cup (st.) - 180 ml.
2/3 cup (st.) - 160 ml.
1/2 cup (st.) - 125 ml.
1/3 cup (st.) - 80 ml.
1/4 cup (st.) - 60 ml.
1 tablespoon (tbsp) - 15 ml.
1 teaspoon (tsp) - 5 ml.
1/5 teaspoon (tsp) - 1 ml.

Ingredients for the recipe:

  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 cup cocoa powder
  • 2.5 cups dry milk
  • 1 teaspoon of salt
  • 2 tsp starch
  • 1 pinch (or more) cayenne pepper, to taste
  • Hot water

Cooking the dish according to the recipe:

  1. Mix all ingredients well in a bowl. Heat 4-6 cups of water in a small saucepan.
  2. Fill a mug with 2 tablespoons of the mixture, or to taste, depending on your desired consistency, and top it up with hot water. Stir. Place the remaining mixture in an airtight container. It can be stored in a dry goods cabinet for a long time. It's also delicious served with warm milk.
