Grilled mackerel marinated Indian style - a detailed recipe.



The recipes use measuring containers with the following volumes:
1 glass (st.) - 250 ml.
3/4 cup (st.) - 180 ml.
2/3 cup (st.) - 160 ml.
1/2 cup (st.) - 125 ml.
1/3 cup (st.) - 80 ml.
1/4 cup (st.) - 60 ml.
1 tablespoon (tbsp) - 15 ml.
1 teaspoon (tsp) - 5 ml.
1/5 teaspoon (tsp) - 1 ml.

Ingredients for the recipe:


  • 4 mackerel fillets with skin
  • 1/2 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • 2 tbsp chopped lemongrass
  • 2 tablespoons minced garlic
  • 1 tbsp. chopped ginger
  • 1 jalapeño chili pepper, finely diced
  • 1 small onion, finely diced
  • 2 tablespoons chopped cilantro
  • 1/4 cup coconut milk
  • 1/4 tbsp. canola oil
  • Salt and ground black pepper

Cooking the dish according to the recipe:


  1. In a bowl, combine lemon juice, lemongrass, garlic, ginger, jalapeño pepper, onion, cilantro, and coconut milk. Mix well, then season with salt and pepper. This mixture can be prepared ahead of time and stored in a resealable plastic bag. Season the fish with salt and pepper. Place the mackerel in the marinade and let it marinate for 15 minutes.

    Remove the fish from the marinade and place it skin-side up on the grill. Grill for 4 minutes per side, basting frequently with the marinade.
