A tart is a typical French open-faced pie made of shortcrust pastry. Depending on the filling, it can be a dessert or a main course. It can be baked in a layer, like a pizza, or in special molds. This recipe uses fig jam for the tart filling, topped with fresh plums. It's a very simple, delicious, and moist dessert that also looks very appetizing.

Cooking the dish according to the recipe:
- Preheat the oven to 220°C (425°F). Let the dough soften at room temperature for 10 minutes. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Place the tart on the parchment paper. Spread fig jam over the tart, leaving a 5cm border. Arrange the plums on top of the jam. Fold the edge of the tart inward, creasing as needed; leave the center of the tart open. Press the dough lightly to secure it.
- In a small bowl, beat the egg with 1 tablespoon of water; brush the dough with the egg wash and sprinkle with sugar. Bake until the crust is cooked through and golden brown, about 35 minutes. Serve the tart warm with ice cream, if desired.
