Decorate the rims of your glasses!

Nothing says fun begins like drinks in whimsically decorated glasses. Colorful sugar is just the beginning. We're sharing ten easy ideas for decorating the rims of cocktail glasses and hot drink mugs. When the party is over, soak the glasses in hot water for a few minutes to help the sprinkles dissolve. Then wash by hand or in the dishwasher.

Ring in the New Year with champagne glasses adorned with "golden nuggets"! Dip the rims of the glasses first into a saucer with simple sugar syrup, and then press into the sparkling golden sugar in the second saucer to make the grains stick.

The rims of these glasses only appear melting and fluid. This dripping gold effect is achieved using the same technique used to make caramel apples. Combine 1 cup sugar, 1 cup water, and 1/2 cup corn syrup in a saucepan and heat to 150°C (300°F), measuring the temperature with a caramel thermometer. Remove from heat, then dip the warm glasses (cold ones may crack!) into the caramel and let it slowly run down the sides, setting. The subtle caramel flavor perfectly complements bourbon or whiskey-based cocktails. The glasses are easy to clean with hot water.

This garnish is perfect for festive, creamy cocktails. Melt high-quality white chocolate in the microwave for 60 seconds, stirring. Dip the rims of warm glasses into the chocolate and let any excess drip off. Wait until the chocolate begins to set, then attach Christmas tree and star-shaped cereals from cereal boxes. Leave a little space on the back of the glass for easier sipping.
