The classic mojito originates from Havana, Cuba, and is rumored to be Ernest Hemingway's favorite drink. It's typically made with lime, mint, cane sugar, and rum—ingredients native to the Caribbean island.


Ingredients:

  • 180 ml of rum
  • 4 tbsp cane sugar
  • 4 cups of ice
  • 10-12 sprigs of mint
  • 6 tablespoons fresh lime juice
  • Carbonated water
  • 4 lime wedges for garnish
Substituting ingredients
1 glass (st.) - 250 ml.
3/4 cup (st.) - 180 ml.
2/3 cup (st.) - 160 ml.
1/2 cup (st.) - 125 ml.
1/3 cup (st.) - 80 ml.
1/4 cup (st.) - 60 ml.
1 tablespoon (tbsp) - 15 ml.
1 teaspoon (tsp) - 5 ml.
1/5 teaspoon (tsp) - 1 ml.

Preparation:

    Step 1
  • Wet the rims of 4 glasses with a lime wedge and dip them in cane sugar.

    Place ice in a cocktail shaker and add rum. Tear half the mint leaves and place them in a shaker with lime juice and sugar. Shake well and serve over ice in a fancy glass. Finish the cocktail with a splash of club soda.

    Garnish each glass with a lime wedge and a sprig of mint.
