In just a couple of minutes, Giada De Laurentiis's vibrant, icy cocktail with crushed frozen cherries, citrusy rum, and sweet lime syrup is ready.



The recipes use measuring containers with the following volumes:
1 glass (st.) - 250 ml.
3/4 cup (st.) - 180 ml.
2/3 cup (st.) - 160 ml.
1/2 cup (st.) - 125 ml.
1/3 cup (st.) - 80 ml.
1/4 cup (st.) - 60 ml.
1 tablespoon (tbsp) - 15 ml.
1 teaspoon (tsp) - 5 ml.
1/5 teaspoon (tsp) - 1 ml.

Ingredients for the recipe:


  • 450 g frozen pitted cherries
  • 2 cups crushed ice, plus extra for serving
  • 1/2 cup fresh mint leaves (packed)
  • 1/3 cup freshly squeezed lime juice (from about 3 limes)
  • 1 tbsp. citrus rum
  • 1 and 2/3 cups lime syrup, see recipe below
  • Lime wedges and fresh cherries, for garnish
  • 2 tbsp. sugar
  • 1 cup of water
  • Zest of 3 limes

Cooking the dish according to the recipe:


  1. Place frozen cherries, crushed ice, mint leaves, lime juice, rum, and syrup in a blender. Blend until smooth.

    Pour the mixture into chilled glasses and top with crushed ice. Garnish with lime wedges and a cherry.
  2. Lime syrup:

    In a small saucepan over medium heat, combine the sugar, water, and lime zest. Bring to a boil, reduce heat, and simmer for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sugar dissolves. Remove from heat and let the syrup cool for 20 minutes. Strain before using.
